Che-Yuan Tsai

​​​​In the year of 2003, my world changed forever, I was send to South Africa by my family to study English. I was excited and afraid of the new journey ahead of me, I felt like an explorer landing on an unknown planet. Everything was new and strange to me and I have to start everything from scratch, I drink their drinks, speak their language, walk on their land and discover the beauty of their culture. I have nothing but my gift for drawing, so I draw in my journals when I felt lonely, years and years later I finished my studies in South Africa, and it was time to leave this beautiful land and head back home. I have grown so different from the person I was before leaving Taiwan that I was struggling to adjust my life back here on the motherland. And now, as I reflect on my experiences, I find myself once again picking up my pen to document the topics that resonate deeply with me on this island.
