This work constructs a stark, tactile archive of cultural dislocation and racial othering. Employing mixed-media collage, the work adopts a ransom-note technique, piecing together clipped typographic fragments excised from print media onto muted, wash-stained paper. These assembled snippets document the casual microaggressions, exoticising slurs, and alienating interrogations endured as an outsider living abroad. By isolating intrusive phrases against quiet, painterly voids, the composition subverts the authority of mass print. The clippings transcend ephemeral prejudice, transforming ambient linguistic violence into permanent, confronting evidence of an immigrant’s fractured identity.
